July is now fully booked!

Whew!  How did that happen?  July just started and I’m booked again.  I need more hours in the day!  Or better yet, more days in the week!  Right now my next available non-newborn session is August 2nd.

My favorite from the Bambino newborn session!

I always get such a bitter-sweet feeling when I finish editing a newborn session.  I’m thrilled because I finished, but a little sad because I’ve just spent hours and hours editing the images of the little one, and now it’s done.   And completing my editing of this little bambino was no different.  In fact I’ve come to love sooo many of the pictures I can’t decide which is my favorite!  But when push comes to shove, this one has to be declared the winner.  With his sweet little face and tiny little hand wrapped around his daddy’s finger… ohhh… it doesn’t get much cuter than this!

Smoke Gets In Your Eyes…

Tomorrow’s mini-session has been rescheduled due to smoke.  Yes, smoke.  There are so many fires in California, that although it creates some pretty cool light (think golden sunset at 9am!), it isn’t so healthy to be out in — especially for for the little ones.  So I’m moving the session to Sunday night July 20th.  Looks like my June mini-sessions have turned into July!

(Okay, now I have Irene Dunne, Fred Astaire, and Ginger Rogers in my head… could be worse.  My daughter is hooked on Word World, so many nights I go to bed singing “It’s time to build a word!”  And if you watched the show, you know what I’m talking about and odds are you now have it stuck in your head!)

Monterey Bay in September

Since I have family in Monterey, I travel down that way frequently — okay, not so frequently these days, but I really should as one of my brothers just turned 21 and the other will be driving soon, and I’m realizing that time is flying by at breakneck speed!  I keep thinking they are still 9 and 3.

I’ve had a couple inquires into shoots in that area, so I have picked September as a time I will be booking sessions for one day only.  I have not yet picked the date, but if you are interested let me know what weekend works for you and I’ll start from there.

And if you are wanting a newborn session, please call as soon as you can.   These sessions are so precious, I’ll make a special trip!  The best newborn sessions are when the baby is 4-8 days old.

My favorite from the Baby L newborn shoot

I just finished editing this shoot from last week…  sigh… what a princess.

Now accepting credit cards!

I made the switch and am now accepting credit cards directly!  What does this mean for you?  Now you can pay for your session and product orders over the phone… no more Paypal.  (Probably a bigger deal for me than for my clients!)

Meet the little Bambino!

This little one was so beautiful!  At only 6 days old, he slept the entire time.  Occasionally he would flash a cute little newborn grin and show off his sweet little dimple.  Oh what a doll!  Have I mentioned that I love the babies??  And I have to thank the very adventurous family for trucking it all the way to Walnut Creek from South San Francisco.   They made the shoot so easy and fun… and having Nana along was just an extra treat – (she’s very good at assisting!)

Okay, last one and this is my FAVORITE!  Look at this little smile…

My email has been wonky…

I think we’ve fixed the problem.  I usually answer my emails within 24 hours, so if you haven’t heard back from me, please call.  925.575.0581  Thanks!

Oh baby baby!

This little itter-bitter was all of 5 days old (yes, I said 5!)  And oh my what a little sweetheart!  She was so perfect.  She slept the entire time and didn’t fuss.  Here are a few super cute ones, but eventually when I have some time I’ll put more under “recent sessions” on my site, however I’m about 4 shoots behind, so it may be awhile!

The big yawn!

Happy Fathers Day – a little tribute

In my work I am constantly reminded of the special relationship between a dad and his children.  I see them play, laugh, and most importantly, care.  It will always remind of my own dad and grandpa (a.k.a. Boppa or Bop, or now that he is a great-grandpa, Big Bop!)  Here are a few of my favorite pictures of my fellas (excluding my husband – although he is an amazing dad to our kids, he would not be very happy if I posted his picture!)

This one is of my dad, Neil Nygard, and my auntie Patti.   My dad passed away a few years ago, so every photo I have of him is important, and this photo has become my favorite.  It’s from 1957 and he is helping his little sister fish – I suspect he tossed her into the lake shortly afterwards, but I haven’t confirmed that with her yet!

This is of my Bop.  He was in the 15th air force 454 bomb group and in WWII flew 54 combat missions as a B-24 gunner… talk about a hero.  He is the greatest grandfather!  Funny and sweet all at the same time.  Happy Father’s Day Big Bop!!

June is fully booked – now looking to July

Wow, things are really moving!  I cannot take any more sessions this month – except newborns.  I can always make time for the new babies, but do be sure to book before your due-date.   I like to take pictures between 4-10 days, and 6 days is ideal.  That gives mama enough time to rest and the baby is still young enough to sleep through much of the session.

Sneak Peek: Danville Mini-Sessions!

Yesterday was my first time doing mini-sessions and I had a blast!  I got the most amazing pictures.   This location is just perfect and I’m trilled with it.  I will definitely be doing more sessions there – big thanks to C.M. for the location suggestion!  In fact, her beautiful kids are first in my sneak peek line-up!

These next little sweeties are absolutely angelic!

This next session was the two girls and at the very end the mom jumped in with the dog for a quick picture – I was overjoyed that this shot turned out the way it did given the chaotic setting.  Really a pretty, pretty family.

And here is the littlest of the photography session – she was not so willing to smile, but I did get her to laugh a bit and in the end she gave me flowers.  Too sweet!  And as I do have several where she is showing off her cute little smile, this one really jumped out at me, so I’m posting it as an Artist favorite ( that would be me, Jennifer Chaney, for those of you who have forgotten whose blog you are reading after all of my rambling and picture posting!)

Absolutely Fabulous Family!

(but not in the Edi and Patsy sort of way…)

I adored this family!  I wanted to stay forever and just shoot away.  It probably took me an extra 20 minutes to leave because I didn’t want to put my camera away.  Even when we were just chatting, I would stop and snap a few because the moments were just to sweet!

I love, love, love, this next one!

Pleasant Hill, CA Mini-Sessions

Even though I added a couple of extra times, I only have two slots left.  At 9:15 on Saturday June 21st, and on the 28th at 8:50.

I’ve had several requests for family mini-shoots, but these aren’t easliy done in the allotted 20 minutes.  Since there is quite a bit of interest, I  will be doing “half-session” holiday packages closer to fall.  I haven’t worked out the details yet, but I imagine it will include about 30-40 minutes of shooting, a couple of gift prints, holiday card design and a digital file or press printed greeting cards.  If you’re interested, please call or email as I have already started a list.  Gotta love these prepared parents!  Already thinking of Christmas cards!  Jennifer Chaney Photography: 925-575-0581 or jennifer@jchaney.com

And the Danville sessions are booked up!

How cute is this little fella?

Ohhhh… the nakie babies are my favorite!  The room had great windows, so I thought I had it made, but alas the sun was not my friend.   Even still I am very happy with the bright feel these have, although it would have been nice to effortlessly click away.  And the fact that the little guy is quick as lightning didn’t help!

More from my recent newborn session

Because there can never be too many pictures of a newborn!  Especially this little guy…

Danville Mini-Session FULL (but not closed)

I’ve booked out the three slots I planned on, but if you wanted to join us, I might be able to add one (maybe two) spots after 7:15.  Email before Wednesday June 4th to reserve – jennifer@jchaney.com

Pleasant Hill, CA still has some openings, but I also have a few unconfirmed who want the sessions, so let me know as soon as possible if you’d like to reserve a space.

Yummy 8 day old!

This little peanut was about as sweet as babies get!  He slept so well and didn’t mind all of the flitting about and picture taking.  Oh and the mom was really fantastic… she is very into photography and made the session so fun because we got to chat about all things photo!

Update: June Mini-Sessions

I’ve added a Danville CA evening shoot on June 8th.  I’ve got one, maybe two, slots open.  Since this is right around the corner, email or call me as soon as possible to be sure you get the spot.  Open slots are 6:50pm and maybe 6:25.  If these two slots fill up, I can add a couple following as the light is just getting good and I’d be happy to stay and shoot.

The morning sessions still have a few openings, and will be in Pleasant Hill.

(Please read below for more details on the mini-sessions)

I was just talking to a client and she had a great idea of using the pictures from these sessions for Christmas gifts.  I thought it was brilliant!  Just order some 5×7s and 8×10s, frame them, and presto! Grandparents, aunts & uncles are done!  And your Christmas shopping is cut in half.  Hmmm… maybe I should do that, too.  Sometimes as a photographer it’s hard to keep up on your own families photos and I’m sure my Gram and Bop would appreciate an updated picture or two of their great-grandkids!

Sneak Peek – Strandwood Elementary School Auction Winners!

It’s my goal to donate a photography session to a silent auction one or two times a year, and if the winners are as fabulous as this family, then I may have to up my donations!  This family is absolutely beautiful and so much fun!  The youngest was SUCH a cutie and was so into the shoot.  And we all know that boys are not so fond of getting their pictures taken, but this one acutally gave me a little time and worked with me.  I was thrilled!   Here are a couple from the shoot.  As always I am still editing and won’t be coming up for air any time soon.  Sorry in advance to my family!
